Federal law currently encourages structured settlements as a means of providing financial security to victims of physical injuries and their families.

In New Video, Senator Says Structured Settlements Provide "Dignity & Peace of Mind"

"Structured settlements are an innovative way to resolve disputes and they provide tax-free financial security, dignity and peace-of-mind for injury victims and wrongful death survivors. Structured settlements work and they should be protected."

So says Senator Richard Durbin (IL), Assistant Majority Leader in the U.S. Senate in a video released today by the National Structured Settlements Trade Association.
